Forge-Philippe owes its name to master blacksmith Philippe de Lalis who in 1549 had a forge in the Wartoise, still known as Fourneau Philippe. On 14 February 1619, his son Charles de Lalis, acting on behalf of his mother, sold it to Nicaise Poschet.
